An intra oral scanner is like a wand or pen that replaces the conventional impression material and produces highly detailed topography without causing discomfort, gagging and inaccuracies associated with conventional putty like impressions material.

3D printers are used in dentistry in conjunction with intra oral scanners. Using this technology dentists are able to print crowns, dentures, night guards and other oral appliances using the digital scan obtained from an intra oral scanner. Lasers are used in a variety of proceedures involving removal of overgrown tissue, reshape gums or teeth whitening. Lasers are also used during deep cleanings and root canals to reduce bacterial counts, treat canker sores or cold sores. Surgeries performed using lasers have minimal bleeding and are less likely to require sutures.
